MVRCS PTO Mission Statement
To enhance the educational experience of students at MVRCS by subsidizing instructive enrichment programs conducted in cooperation with teaching staff and providing financial support for field trips and the other student group activities and to help to foster a sense of community and cooperation among a diverse student body by sponsoring social gatherings and events aimed at bringing students, parents and teachers together.
The PTO sponsors or co-sponsors many events throughout the the school year including: field trips, a scholarship fund,student enrichment, bookfairs, Rollerworld outings, holiday store, Disney raffle, yearbook, field day, Science Fair and many more. The members of the PTO strongly encourage you to come to the board meetings and become involved in their events.
PTO Offering Scholarships
The Mystic Valley Regional Charter School, Parent-Teacher Organization “MVRCS PTO” is pleased to offer the MVRCS PTO Scholarship, which will be presented to two graduating seniors in recognition of their distinction and excellence in volunteerism and community service. The purpose of these awards is to recognize and reward achievements in volunteerism and community service among the students of Mystic Valley Regional Charter School “Mystic Valley”. The goals of the Scholarship are to:
Foster volunteerism within the community, and
Promote the appreciation of both the rights and responsibilities
of citizenship within the community.
Perhaps the greatest benefit to volunteering is the sense of accomplishment, pride and satisfaction that the student feels from helping others in need within their community. Those personal benefits are reason enough for students to serve as volunteers; however the other obvious benefit is to the community in which the student has given his or her time and talents to help make a difference. The ideals of volunteerism and service to the school community are at the foundation of the PTO’s mission. It is a natural extension of the PTO’s core mission to offer this scholarship as a way to celebrate the achievements of volunteerism and community service by students of Mystic Valley.
Eligibility:
To be eligible for the MVRCS PTO Scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:
1. The applicant must be a graduating senior from Mystic Valley Regional Charter School.
2. The applicant must submit a completed application package, including all components of the package, during the period beginning January 3, 2012 and ending March 23, 2012.
3. The Scholarship Review Committee will not consider incomplete application packages or application packages that are delivered or post marked after March 23, 2012. The application must be post-marked no later than March 23, 2012 in order to meet the deadline requirement.

4. The applicant must be a member in good standing in his or her community and in the school.
5. The applicant must possess a grade point average of 2.0 or better.

The PTO plays an important role in the success of Mystic Valley and is proud to work with and support the talented teachers, the administration, staff and dedicated board of trustees but without your support we can only do so much. One of the best ways you can help your student is to GET INVOLVED. Studies have shown that students who have adults actively involved in their education do much better in school. "Involved" is not synonymous with "sucked in". We are confident that you will find a level of involvement that is comfortable for you from the various PTO activities planned this year.

PTO Scholarships
Scholarship awards were given to graduating seniors Derek Lee and Alana Casullo at the annual senior lunch. Each scholarship was in the amount of $2,500.00. The awards were made in recognition of the students' distinction and excellence in volunteerism and community service. The scholarship awards were given by Maia Moran of the Mystic Valley PTO.
