The high school programs offered at Mystic Valley are designed to meet the needs of all young adults. The guiding principles of the school are that Mystic Valley High School is a 9-12 school with an emphasis on core academics; academic excellence and high expectations for all students; continued parental involvement; teacher-directed instruction with strategies that insure prompt remediation and/or acceleration depending on each individual student's needs; the implementation of the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program (IB) in grades 11-12;the acquisition of an in-depth knowledge base in the physical sciences, history, politics, global geography and cultures, language and literature, the arts, writing, and mathematics. 

2009-2010: A BANNER YEAR AT MYSTIC VALLEY

The 2009- 2010 school year was extremely successful. The forty- three members of the Class of 2010 and all of the faculty, staff and student body have many reasons to be proud.
Significant achievements during the 2009 – 2010 year include but are not limited to:
 
Newsweek magazine ranked Mystic Valley among the top 1% of High Schools in America. U.S. News and World Report magazine ranked the school in the top 8% of all United States high schools. It is the second time within the last three years that Mystic Valley achieved stellar recognition from each of these well respected national publications.
Twenty-one seniors were awarded the Commonwealth of Massachusetts’ Abigail Adams Scholarship entitling them to four years of free tuition at any Massachusetts State College or University.
Seven members of the 2010 graduating class achieved the prestigious IB Diploma which will earn them college credits.
Michael Beauboeuf became the first Mystic Valley graduate to enroll at Harvard University. He was also accepted to MIT.
98% of the members of the graduating class will be attending college in the fall.
Mystic Valley continued to significantly out-perform our sending districts on the MCAS exams. Once again, 100% of Mystic Valley’s 10th graders passed their MCAS exams a feat unmatched by any other school in our sending district.
The Girls Varsity Basketball team qualified for the state tournament for the fourth straight year and game within a half second of pulling out a win in the opening round.
The Volleyball (for the first time), Boys Basketball, Girls Softball, and Boys Varsity Lacrosse (in its second season) also qualified for the state tournament. The lacrosse team featured the Commonwealth Athletic Conferences Offensive Player of the Year, Taylor Roseen.
Mystic Valley repeated as CAC Championships in both Boys Cross Country and Swimming. The swim team was undefeated in league meets. League MVP honors went to Pat Kinnon and Alyssa Savarino.

In addition to the banner year for academics and sports, Mystic Valley offered many cultural and extracurricular opportunities. The students put on a wonderful talent night at its Annual Pastapallooza evening at the High School which was very well attended and filled with some tremendous entertainment. There were also the classic play The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, band performances, Key Club events and Model United Nations events throughout the year.

Finally, Dr.Paul E. Peterson, the Henry Lee Shattuck Professor of Government and Director of the Program on Education Policy and Governance at Harvard University, delivered the commencement address to the graduates. Professor Peterson is a very influential figure in education and was very impressed with Mystic Valley

Mystic Valley community has much to be proud of having become one of the areas top schools in the space of a few short years. However, the students, faculty, administration and staff will enter next year knowing that it cannot rest on its laurels as success once achieved is history and that the true measure of excellence is not in the achievement but in the journey.
