Mystic Valley is very proud of the accomplishments of its students both past and present. As such we are always happy to spread good news regarding our students. If there is an award or scholarship that a Mystic Valley student has received and would like to have the school publicize, please complete a Publicity Request and Mystic Valley will send a press release to the student's hometown newspaper(s).
PTO Scholarships
Scholarship awards were given to graduating seniors Carolyn Bissex and Alyssa Savarino at the annual senior lunch. Each scholarship was in the amount of $2,000.00. The awards were made in recognition of the students' distinction and excellence in volunteerism and community service. The scholarship awards were given by Maia Moran of the Mystic Valley PTO.

Mystic Valley Senior Headed to Harvard

Michael Beauboeuf will be attending Harvard University in the fall. The Mystic Valley Regional Charter School senior will be the first graduate of the school to enroll in the prestigious university. He will be attending Harvard as a winner of a Gates Millennium Scholarship. The Gates scholarships are extraordinarily competitive with over 20,000 very bright students applying each year. The scholarships are given based on academic excellence and community service and can potentially be renewed through a Doctorate degree.
Michael also received a scholarship from the Arlington Boys and Girls Club where he had worked as a volunteer youth leader throughout his high school career.
While at Mystic Valley, Michael was active in the school newspaper and was the winner of Awards for Excellence in Math, Biology and Spanish in his junior year as well as being named to the high honor roll.
Michael lives in Medford with his father Emmanuel, mother Lolita and sister, Elyse, who was a member of the Mystic Valley Class of 2009.
Alyssa Savarino and Bobby Brown Win Lions Scholarships
Mystic Valley Regional Charter School graduating seniors, Alyssa Savarino and Bobby Brown, were recently awarded scholarships by the Lions Club of Malden.
The two seniors each had very impressive extracurricluar careers while at Mystic Valley. Brown was a Commonwealth Athletic Conference All Star football player. Savarino was a star swimmer for the Eagles. She was named the MVP of the Commonwealth Athletic Conference. Savarino was also a member of the National Honor Society.
The Lions Club is an international secular service organization with over 1.3 million members worldwide. The organization’s motto is “we serve”. The Malden chapter of the organization has a long tradition of providing local students with scholarship assistance as well as supporting many other deserving local programs.
Mystic Valley Senior, Peter Finn, Wins Scholarships
Peter Finn has recently received several scholarships as he gets ready to graduate from the Mystic Valley Regional Charter School later this month. The scholarships which total in excess of $10,000 come from several sources. Peter received scholarships from the Piccolo Family Charitable Foundation as well as three separate scholarships from Suffolk University. Peter will be attending Suffolk University in Madrid in the fall.
Mystic Valley Assistant Director, George Benzie, described Peter as “a student who truly subscribes to treating others as he would want to be treated. Peter is considerate of others and exhibits chivalry often by holding doors for his peers and teachers and even giving up seats to accommodate others. Peter’s shy, modest and caring nature resonates in everything he does. Aside from his rigorous course work in school, Peter keeps busy. He is a lead team member of our schools Community Action Service (CAS) club. Peter takes pride in his community service efforts, coaching and teaching children at our lower school campus, and helping community organizations. In addition to this, Peter maintains a part time job. Peter is very well read and enjoys trivia. He has always been particularly interested in history and is excited about pursing criminal justice and law enforcement. “
Peter was also an active member of the St. Joseph’s Youth Ministry and Religious Education Program throughout his high school career.
Peter lives in Melrose with his parents Stephen and Toni, his sisters Kelly, Jacqui and Maggie and his brother Sean all of whom also go to Mystic Valley.

Mystic Valley Senior Alyssa Savarino Wins Zonta Scholarship
Alyssa Savarino, recently was awarded a scholarship from the Zonta Club of Malden. The scholarship is given to academically qualified, deserving women graduating as high school seniors whose goals highlight advancing the status of women.
The Mystic Valley senior had an outstanding career at Mystic Valley. In addition to being an honor roll student, she helped lead the school to consecutive Commonwealth Athletic Conference Championship titles in swimming. Alyssa was the Commonwealth Athletic Conference MVP in both her sophomore and senior years! She was also the Key Club Secretary, a member of the National Honor Society and the Model UN.
During the summer she volunteered at the Naval Medical Research Center in Silver Springs Maryland. She also volunteered as a tutor to Mystic Valley’s elementary school students.
Alyssa lives in Malden with her mother, Laurie Savarino.
